TriNet will continue to offer a wide variety of comprehensive, competitive benefits. However, there are a few changes for the new benefits plan year.

  • The TriNet medical plans will have minor changes, which will vary by plan and carrier. In addition, new Affordable Care Act (ACA) changes mean that family deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums will work differently for some medical plans in 2016.
  • A new national medical carrier is available: UnitedHealthcare (UHC)*. UHC offers:
    • A national network for care—An expansive national network, reaching 98% of the U.S. population. UHC’s network includes more than 783,000 physicians and health care professionals, 5,700 hospitals and 64,000 pharmacies.
    • Access to programs and services designed to enhance your health—support from nurses, counselors, care managers and online wellness programs.
    • A resource for quality, cost-effective care—The UnitedHealth Premium® designation program provides quality and efficiency ratings for physicians and facilities.
  • More options for short-term and long-term disability coverages, so you get the coverage you need, without paying for more than you want.
  • Since 2014, an ACA provision called the Individual Mandate requires nearly all Americans to have medical coverage or pay a tax penalty. In 2016, the penalty is the greater of $695 per uninsured adult or 2.5% of annual household income. Worksite employees and their dependents who are enrolled in a TriNet medical plan meet the Individual Mandate requirement during the period they have coverage through TriNet.

*The availability of UnitedHealthcare is based on worksite employer choice; however, it is not available in the following worksite-headquartered states: CO, FL, GA, HI, MA, NC, NY.
